saturday afternoon project

There is something seriously satisfying about starting and finishing something!! maybe it has to do with that sense of control we have. I've lost count of my unfinished projects! All the intention was there but no follow through... paintings especially...dont you hate it when you have a great idea in your head but when it comes to putting itto canvas its near impossible to recreate? I used to have all these half finished paintings piled up because I gotten discouraged and given up. Other stuff like Exercise plans that last for 3 days, and statments like "this is my last dot dot dot..." (bought coffee is a favourite in our household :) Things that we tell ourselves we will do but then are forgotten the next day. So I'v started setting loose some of the things from my "one day" pile, with the idea of 'finishing' rather than just forever 'starting' . And it gives the cheapest thrills... When wa...

rebuilding from a place of desolation

Where to start........ This has felt like a common phrase over the last few years - Where to start in my mess of a house! Where to start with my kids! where to start in my marriage! Where to start with myself! Is this just me or are there others who have come to this point too? Its a scary place with not much room to breath...... Now with 4 boys 6 and under and another baby on the way it felt like everything came to a tipping point these last few months. Once I was sick in bed with all day morning sickness. "MORNING sickness" who made up that name for that anyway!! everything seemed to fall apart from the above. The house and kids became even more wild and my husband and I were in battle mode. And where are you God I would ask???..... Help came in the form of friends popping in who helped do dishes or pickup, or the odd "team" from our youth with a mission base who were assigned us as their work duty that day but it was mainly just bandaids on a...

keeping it simple + the best thing + ditching TV = not for the faint hearted*

So about two months ago we ditched TV during the week (90% of the time) and made it a treat for the weekend... Why you might ask? Well for myself I felt like I was using it waay too much as a babysitting tool...I didn't know what else to do with them... survival...the easiest option.... And I guess it just got to the point where it didn't sit well with me and all I could think was... I don't want my 5 year old... 10 year...my 15 year old.... sitting zoned out on a beautiful day. For a long time there we were a little in the dark ages only using tv for dvds and not connected up to a TV supplier... but that didn't lessen the amount I'd let them watch - mainly Mr 4 year old {as Mr 2 year old doesn't sit long enough to watch anything unless its about robots, horsey's, or dinosaurs} The first two days were the worst!!! As our Four year old (mr routine) was not a happy chappy esp in the mornings as his routine had been wake up - put a dvd on - have brea...
