test pots + table = perfect table for play

This little table has been awesome its the perfect size for play or morning tea - but it was a bit of a nothing colour so using the remains of test pots I had some fun with it...and went for a mix of Chevron/Mountains/Geometrics :)

HOW TO: Using "Painters Masking tape" mask off your area one section at a time making sure that each is dry before starting the next section. I applied two coats, using Resene paints + for the white a spray paint I made sure I used a seal spray over the top for all the boys messes and it works a treat allowing me to wipe it clean.

TIP: Before applying the sealer spray make sure that its completely free of dust or dirt etc {I didn't think to do this as I sprayed it outside so now it has a permanent layer of dust sealed under the top coat - whoops!!}

# I cant remember the colour for the grey but I could find out for you if you like it and want to use it for yourself?

Busyness

this whole idea of busyness has been on my mind for weeks now, I definitely feel like Gods trying to show me how to let different things go, delegate, and be open to change. But gosh its hard sometimes to know how that looks in reality and the right things to do at the right time. So I kind of feel like I'm learning to hear Gods still small voice all over again - but what I realise is this is hard to do if you are running.....and so the journey to be in that place of peace continues...

I dont think God intended that we would live just so that we could chase our tails...

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.  You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you...." {John 14:27-30}

I'm so glad that what he meant when he said I will come to you, was that he would send his spirit - the comforter to us so that we might be able to have an ever present source of comfort and guidance when we ask...this is something I'm still soo learning to do, yet thankful that he has all the answers to unclutter the chaos of the mind and help me work through issues of busyness...and he can for you too!

take love and kindness with you x

"My child, do not forget my teaching,but let your heart keep my commandments;

For length of days and years of life

And peace they will add to you.

Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.

So you will find favour and good repute
In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight."
~Proverbs

Relishing the ordinary moments ~ everyday...

I recently watched a Movie called "About Time"....it was perfect!!

 without giving away the plot one of the themes within it was  living each day to the fullest as though you are living the best version of that day ~ and the way I saw it ~ to Relish the ordinary... everyday moments and see them for something extraordinary..

wow simple right!? But maybe not so much when you are about to loose it at your kids or have too much on your place that day...

But it really challenged me to GIVE IT A TRY!...because I so often feel a bit lost in the everyday routine... I felt like it spoke to the inner child - we all have this.

Because the eyes of a child see the world through the PRESENT, they live fully in what's happening right in front of them - with all the highs and lows of it.

 for a child finding a tiny insect is a BIG deal, it captures their imagination - yet for us Big kids we don't give it a second thought...

So when I intentionally tried it the first time, I remember sitting with Leeland on my knee the other two playing and I felt to look out the window and just take in what I saw...and in doing so I found myself saying to the boys

"look at the way the sun is shining on the trees the leaves are glimmering and glistening, and swaying in the breeze"...and immediately they both jumped up to the window saying "ohh where?... Oh there! yeah I see it!"

The next time I noticed the way the grass sparkled in the morning with dew and before I knew it two little people were pressing their faces up against the glass to see for themselves this wonder out our window...Relishing the ordinary...

{my little diy chalk board that I will often write a quote on to remind me of something special to think upon that week}

then I started noticing things like smell, texture, the feel of the sun or a warm space and began catching myself midway through doing something ordinary and allowing myself to soak in the moment....this is great to do with kids even by just prompting with simple questions like "how does the wind feel on your face...can we see anything in the grass we are sitting on...anything to take a moment and live in that moment a little bit more...

Yes its a simple thought "Relish the ordinary moments within a day..." but when you start reminding yourself to stop and soak up what's really happening right then and there - being in that moment, that's when unexpected, and surprising things start to happen...

  {a simple way I like to do this with the boys is make something simple like morning tea into an extra-ordinary event ie have it outside on the picnic blanket, put their water in teacups, chat about the birds "can you hear them...can you see any nests..." take a moment with them and just be present...I think they appreciate it too - and it helps break the day up...}

# Here's a little challenge for you, sit and close your eyes for a minuet at the computer... or have a look around... let yourself look beyond the ordinary and what do you see?...maybe it sparks a thought?...maybe it just reminds yourself to catch up on being in the present?...maybe it does nothing...and that's OK too...

often we get too busy to remember to do it just "once" but when we do, it can make all the difference in the world to that day...

"Look beyond the ordinary...
what do you see...
for it is the ordinary everyday moments, that make up our lives... so they may as well
 be Extraordinary..."

Watch the movie "About Time", you'll love it!!

banishing the black! + paint + spray + sheepskin = comfy!!

I bought this chair from our local dump for $2, I was drawn by the shape and took some inspiration from Pinterest {as you do!}

I painted the top then sprayed with a clear gloss sealer and spray painted the legs in Gloss enamel + added the $4 op~shop sheep skin and voilĂ !

I'm enjoying keeping it simple when it comes to colours etc! trying to stick to the the take the last thing OUT before you leave the room idea - aka stop before you go a bit O.T.T crazy!!!

This was my pinterest inspiration x

PS sometimes us perfectionists see an idea on pinterest and dont even attempt it as you can almost picture the end result - but actually I tend to think the enjoyment and learning comes through the trying and retrying not so much the end result x so take one of your {probably many} pinterest ideas and see it through to completion even it takes a week + and see what happens!

ENJOY!
