Love Yellow

I painted this frame that I'd found at a op-shop awhile ago, and I finally decided what I'd put in it :)
I used brown wrapping paper behind the drawing and used a stamp I had for the "LOVE".

Kiwi Mums christmas Craft

Here were two little crafts we recently did at kiwi mums = Love kiwiMUMs!

Ok so the colours are a bit crazy but I had fun anyways!
This felt bird was real easy - just cut out your pieces using whatever contrasting colours of felt and then I made it a bit simpler so instead of stitching all the way around the outside I just joined them by crossing the thread on the wings then sewing the buttons together. (they have different coloured buttons on the other side and can also use different coloured threads etc - lots of combination possibilities)
And like I say you can't perfect anything you havnt tried once or started!

Christmas Bunting using Paper + Rough string
I liked the use of the pinks with the reds!

Wall decalls!

Lately I remember seeing in a Home magazine Removable Wall stickers of owls for a little kids room and they were Soo expensive for what you got - I found these ones of Owls for only $7.50 from one of those cheap $2+ type shops. I cant believe how much they charge from something sometimes because its from a known brand.

Keep scouting I say!

Peonies

I cant say that I've ever really had a thing for Flowers much, but at the moment I'm packing Peonies for export and I have to say I'm loving having them scattered around my home - I feel very grown up :) Its a real treat! I think I could get used to this :)

considering the only description of a flower in my garden are the sunflowers that I've planted and they are only about 6cm high - I may be waiting awhile for the next installment of flowers to grace my home :) So I shall make the most of having them now!

Love colour!

Removable Wall Decals from $2+ shop
I love yummy tourquise, pinks and yellows at the moment!

Encouragment just when we need it

Ever have one of those days where you feel very usless - well I was having another of those, frustrated with tiredness and not "feeling it" with God days. Lost in the blurryness of waking up after another night of getting up to a little one.

I picked up my scrapbook notebook/journal thingy and started to look through it.

And as I flipped along, I felt much better, because I was reminded of all the little things God had given me in the past - little drawings or pictures, words and I realised that it was Ok to not be "feeling it" but rather I could rest right where I was.

sometimes we need to remind ourselves of all that has happened and all the encouragement God has soaked us in, in the past when we are having one of those days.

thanks God for your little notes of encouragment just when we need them

Today is going to be a good day :) x o x o

Just as we are

"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!" Luke 1:45

Particularly on those days, where I feel like I'm nothing special, I have to remind myself that my Heavenly Father has so much fun stuff for my life!  And especially that He will fulfill his promises that he has already given me, and there are soo many amazing promises of God for us in his word too...

The hard part is recieveing his love for me as His daugher.

"Letting Go"

Learning to let go and Trust in him for the things that feel Huge and also the little stuff. We can often think and worry about these all day yet never realise we are doing so....
Trusting in God as our provider the way a parent provides for their children and finding that place of rest is an everyday thing.

 Its the Beautiful Exchange,

handing over our stuff our "feelings" for his beauty, love and Rest,
and knowing even when we feel like we have or are nothing, he brings everything we could ever need!

He knows the gaps in our heart and the desires within us and we dont need to panic.
One of my favourite verses is John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you"

I love the fact that he promises to come to us Right where we are
When we feel like we have nothing to offer he wants to remind us that when we work with him, we have everything.
And the best part is that He meets us right where we are.
He will not leave us as an orphan
but will come and make us a daughter.
He will not leave us feeling empty
but wants to make us whole.

Right where we are,

Just as we are!

Loved!

Card ideas

I love Hot Air Balloons! We live near a park where they take off from and tour north canterbury.  Sometimes when I've been out for a early morning run I've caught them as they are being blown up, and then taking off. Something so simple and yet elegant as they glide effortlessly up and away!

Home is where the Heart is

I came up with this little idea the other day when I was wanting to brighten up my lounge; using odd fabric I already had, and cross-stitch cotton.

"Owly"

I love this little guy, I made it before Titus was born, I want to make another toy for when the next one comes along in march! It was alot of fun to figure out how to make and using different materials etc... no rules just your own imagination! I especially love his button eyes!

Adventures in the Rain

Today was one of those rainy days there the wind is blustery and the rain hits hard against the windows!

I love the rain though, especially getting out in it. So I tucked up my son in his buggy with the plastic rain cover and off we set. I'm sure every passing car thought "oh that poor child!" but seriously my boy loved it, chattering happily before dozing off to sleep with his blanky hanging out of his mouth :) There were puddles, and lakes to dodge, overflowing gutters and spouting water to see for the little man, much to his amusement.
The point is that, as woman it's so important to keep our sense of adventure. Obviously you can't just go bungy jumping everyday, but it's in the little choices that really grow who you are. See I could have said to myself this morning - "Its raining oh well there goes our walk", but I choose instead to make it a little andventure with my boy instead, somthing that made the day memorable.

There can be lots of little adventures to grasp hold in our days as mothers at home or work. But its up to us to make them that, and discover the little surprises along the way :)

"Captivating"

I've started reading the book "Captivating" again, (by John and Stasi Eldredge) and it's really been encouraging me.  I think it's hard when you find yourself in a place you don't remember being in before. It can be a confusing and lonely place. As a woman our hearts lead us, but sometimes our hearts become stuck because of that.  I'm enjoying reading about beauty being a place of rest within the heart. A spacious place, a welcoming place. A place where the hardness and insecurities dissolve.  And it makes me want to let God help me out of those stuck places we can often find ourselves in, and show me whats on the other side....

"You can't perfect anything you havn't Started"

I Love being able to think in pictures and enjoy making stuff but theres a flip side to this personality type - which is being a "perfectionist".

I got this idea a week ago about making some collages or paintings based on the seasons. I started with a flurry and then fizzed out just as abruptly.  See in the past I've often had ideas that have sat in my head for ages, purhaps staying there. But once a friend of mine said something which I found simple yet profound "You can't perfect anything you havn't started".

So this random piece of advice often comes to mind when I'm procrastinating on an idea, imagining how it will turn out without having even touched the materials.

Because in reality i've found while sometimes you make something and it's brilliant the first time but more often that not you have a few duds before you stumble upon a really neat idea or something that really works.

Like my idea with seasons, I'm not quite there with it, its still all a bit cliche, but i'll keep playing and dreaming and you never know where I'll get,
but at least I've started! :)

The most georgous of all

At mums group recently we were supposed to make these earing holders using frames but I got as far as putting some paint on mine (not really into earings). But better yet I found this georgous illustration within a story of Thumbelina I have and decided it was perfect for the frame instead. LOVE the colours ( I have a scanner so, scaned then printed after changing the contrast etc, but you could just as easy take it into a printer to get colour copied, and enlarged or srunk)

The easiest way to put some lovley pictures up in your house or kids room, straight out of story books - and what better way to recycle old frames with a sratch of paint or use as they are.

I want to put this one in Babys room eventually :) And it's given me the idea for how a whole lot of them together would be neat of all sorts of illustrations....I'm going to keep an eye out for lovly frames from op-shops from now on...

Finding treasure

Once you get married it can be so easy to forget or just not make the effort to keep finding out the desires of our spouses heart, even with our friends - we can feel like we know everything about them so we stop probing and asking questions. Recently my husband made me dinner and he had a whole bunch of questions he'd jotted on post it notes that he asked me over dinner and desert; from the silly to personal. But it was really neat, it felt like those first dates where you just ask each other heaps of questions trying to find things in common and figure out who this new person is. And how often do we really just listen to someones heart?(he let me ask him some questions too :)
So if its somthing you think you'd like to try here are some questions that I found in the "LOVe Dare" book which might get you started :) or give you some better ideas for questions....

You never know what treasures you'll find....

Mothers and Fathers Day x o

I made one of these for my Dad a couple Father's Days back. Somehow Home made presents for these occasions just seem more fitting than store bought stuff.

I dont know about you, but when I think of all that my parents have done for me over the years, it all seems to blurr together. Some things like holiday traditions and holidays jump out.  Or those special memories that at the time were extra grand to our little eyes.  But when it comes down to it, its all the "little things done in love" that make our parents the people they are to us now.  I'm in awe of my parents since becoming a mum, and I've just got one! How did they manage with the 4 of us girls!!

Isnt it funny how I dont think you can really understand Mothers or Fathers Day untill it comes around and you find yourself at the recieving end.

Thanks Mum and Dad x o x o

Season's

"Blossoms are like the curtains being drawn back before a glorious performance..." x c
Have you ever had one of those days where you just want to splash some paint around or get in your car and drive to a day spa for the day. Just anything really to break up the fact that the house is a mess and its not going to go anywhere unless you move it. Your kids sick and wont stop grizzling even after all the cuddles your giving out, or you just want to feel normal and unmotherly like.... well having one of those days... :)

"Can you see my little parachute sailing away?"
But its alright cause I've had my morning run, been to the doc with the little one and got the nappies, pamol and coffee (yes on days like these it feels like a big treat!) on the way home.
Its sunny out and a really beautiful day, and while i cant think of anything to paint or make, I can take a few photos to get me out in the sun :) but above all that, Im so thankful to know my heavenly father is here with me and whispering little creative ideas to brighten up my day.
So no matter what season you feel like your day is falling into - enjoy the present season with all its little surprises along the way...

Love pulls together

"Like a plam tree facing the greatist of winds,
it does not stand up straight and tall
but gracfully bends in the wind.
It does not fight against the wind but joins it.
And as a reward it becomes stronger,
and it is as though, both are pulling togther..."

"But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness." James 3:17-18
